There were just 128 students in the pioneer batch of this college and when today we are just short of 2 years for celebrating 50 years as a full-fledge commerce college, we boast to accommodate 993 students with our well-qualified teaching faculty who is determine to equip the students in every manner so that they can face the changing times. |

Late Shri S. R. Mehta was the first Principal of the institution who steered the college very efficiently for 25 years (1960-1985). Shri R. L. Dudhwala was the next Principal for another 11 years (1985-1996). From 1996 onwards, the institution is commendably progressing under the authority of Shri M. P. Rathod (Principal) who is the Prsedient of the rural area Principal association. |

It is a matter of great pride that Principal shri M. P. Rathod was a student of the same institution. It is worth mentioning that the institution has provided 10 Principals to different collge of Gujarat University . To name a few Shri B. M. Thaker, Shri R. A. Trivedi, Shri K. Y. Bakshi, Shri R. H. Vyas, Shir G. H. Shah, Shri Harish Patel, Shri Dhirubhai Velvan etc. |

In 1967 the institution gained the position as an approved center for PG course. |

In 1968 the pioneers and the then successors obtained approval to start Banking & Finance as a Principal subject at UG level. |

In 1986 to develop technological competence in the students so that they may take a right kind of take-off for greener pastures, 2 (two) subsidiary subjects (Computer Science and Adv. Statistics) were introduced at F.Y./S.Y.B.Com. level. |

In 2004 an Add-On “ Spoken English “ certificate course was introduced to place our aspiring students at par with their counter parts at home and abroad. |

2004-2006 to take stock of the performance of I.V. Patel college of Commerce, the students of ‘ Banking & Finance ‘ have showered fame for three consecutive years by bagging the ‘ Gold Medal ‘ at the University level. |
